SSG Donald H "Don" Bates It cuts out a huge distance for ships travelling from Boston to New York and points South and in reverse, those ships heading to Boston and points North to Canada! I've seen U.S. Navy Destroyers, Frigates, Submarines, Tankers, Cruise ships and more going through this huge canal... Awesome to watch from the shoreline...

Thank you SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL!!! It is great in the Spring, Summer and Fall, but don't travel to Massachusetts in the Winter...not fun my friend...very cold with snow, sleet, freezing rain, and more...
