I have always preferred asking questions exposing the reasons for my disagreement as opposed to making declarations of opposition. That used to work. However, questions can be embarrassing, especially when the respondent has no answers or the questions expose truths that the respondent wishes to conceal. Sadly, in light of this, I fear that civil discourse is a thing of the past.
