Thank you PVT Mark Brown for sharing the unsurprising news that in Washington, DC the gun confiscation policy is not all effective in reducing gun-linked homicides.
Only fools believe that gun confiscation will stop criminals from having guns and using them for mayhem.

"Few police departments are better at confiscating illegal guns than Washington, D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department, according to a new report from NPR. But that aggressive gun-confiscation policy hasn’t done anything to curb the ballooning homicide rate in the nation’s capital, which has risen over 40 percent since last year.
Every American police department encourages its officers to be on the lookout for illegal guns, but D.C. has instituted a program that tasks teams of officers in unmarked cars to scour the streets in search of people who might be carrying illegal firearms.
D.C. officers frequently stop pedestrians and pull cars over when they observe an individual looking nervous when they drive past. They’ve also stopped and searched people for crossing the street, running away, wearing heavy coats in warm weather, or holding their pants in a certain way while walking, according to NRP.
The practice has become so ubiquitous that residents have started calling officers who look for people carrying illegal weapons the “jump-outs.”

DC has always been one of the top cities for homicide in the US. My across the street neighbor was killed while walking home to his Catholic U dorm in early 60s. Understandable why they have become so good at confiscation of illegal weapons. Actually homicide rates had gone way down for a while so a 40 percent increase, while not good, still is not as bad as it was decades ago.

The progressives don't want people to have guns. They want a population unable to resist

PVT Mark Brown I just see no need for the average citizen to have assault type weapons. I'm all for creating a category of owners who are authorized to have them, but that entails background checks, extra training and some type of tracking of specific weapons that ensures they aren't sold to anyone not authorized to have one.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen assault weapons are already banned. An AR 15 is not an assault weapon. The media exploits the public's ignorance.

PO3 Jason M. That's part of the issue, there is no firm definition. I'd guess anything in the AR-15, AK-47 class of weapons.

We blame an individual when he drives recklessly and kills someone, we don't blame the car. It is time to stop blaming the gun, it is a person who chooses to fire it, the gun can do nothing on it's own.
