Thanks for reminding us of the duplicity of double agent Aldrich Ames TSgt Joe C.
This reminds me of Jonathan Pollard and his wife who spied for Israel.
Flash back a few decades to Cambridge, England.
The Cambridge Spy Ring was a ring of spies recruited in part by Soviet scout Arnold Deutsch in the United Kingdom, who passed information to the Soviet Union during World War II and was active at least into the early 1950s. Four members of the ring were originally identified: Kim Philby (cryptonym: Stanley), Donald Duart Maclean (cryptonym: Homer), Guy Burgess (cryptonym: Hicks) and Anthony Blunt (cryptonyms: Tony, Johnson). Once jointly known as the Cambridge Four and later as the Cambridge Five, the number increased as more evidence came to light about John Cairncross.
I expect in the coming decades we will learn more about the double agents who are working now to undermine national security. I expect some Chinese will be implicated.

Yes, the Chinese as a nation have zero respect for intellectual property rights such as movies, software, books, and so forth. The spies who work for them have enabled fifth generation fighter development for the Chinese Air Force which is a subsidiary of the People's Army. There have been some examples mentioned in the news of high technology workers turning over secrets to the Chinese. Their ICBM force is probably a courtesy of the American taxpayers due to criminals turning over nuclear secrets.

I think that the coddling of spies who were American citizens working in sensitive high technology areas has caused their numbers to increase. Turning over state secrets for filthy money should always warrant a firing squad; further, the Pollard type spy that believes in a cause should also warrant execution.

I agree SSgt. Selling out one's country for the 30 pieces of silver is the most heinous of crimes and should be dealt with with finality.

Crime definitely doesn't pay, and Mr. Ames will have a long time think about his duffiness.
