To be honest CPT Jack Durish I expect that Mel Brooks had a dark sense of humor long before he left the military. I wouldn't be surprised if he was cracking jokes while he was working to defuse mines.

Great list but they left out one of the greats who had 47 movies & other credits (http://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/audie-murphy/credits/140907/): Audie Leon Murphy - one of the most decorated American combat soldiers of World War II, receiving every military combat award for valor available from the U.S. Army, as well as French and Belgian awards for heroism.

CPT Jack Durish Not only can I imagine that, I can see him being the originator of the "I am the bomb squad, if you can read this, try to keep up." T-shirt. What I find more funny is that they felt the need to explain who he was.
I didn't know that Mr. T was an MP. I also didn't know that Johnny Carson had served.
To me the biggest surprise on the list was Alan Alda. Not because he served, but because after serving in Korea, he went on to star in a show about the same war.
