Iraqi Soldiers Flee Again in Iraq Army’s First Mosul Operation

Well, can't say that I'm surprised.

This seems to be exactly the biggest problem for the Iraqi army: the lack of morale. One week ago Iraqi soldiers abandoned their base, which forced the United States to send in more Marines in support, and one of them was killed. Again this time, Iraqi army soldiers almost completely deserted their positions, fearing an ISIS response to their artillery when, in reality, not one mortar shell or bullet hit close to their positions.
The lack of courage of Iraqi soldiers led to laughter among the Kurdish Peshmerga forces stationed nearby in a supporting role. Unlike the Iraqi soldiers, the Peshmergas did not move one inch, kept on smoking, and were surprised when they saw suddenly all the soldiers fled.
“Did you film that?” one Peshmerga soldier asked me, with evident disgust.

ISIL has been able to inspire fear in the Iraqi army in large part because the ISIL military and intel leadership came from the Iraqi Army while ISIL was building up its infrastructure and leadership. Those men know how to motivate and un-motivate Iraqi troops and know where their families live.

Doesn't sound like they are too enthused, A lack of Motivation. My knowledge of the local Politics leaves a little to be desired. Do they have any skin in the game?

I am upset that the puppet govt. of Iraq influenced by Iran and with Hezbollah groups helping with M1 Abrhams tanks somehow given to them are now in the fight also. I know these tanks are being used against ISIL but they could as easily be used against US forces as well. Not good. Only silver lining that others here on RP brought up is how long will those tanks last before they break down (broke dick aka inoperative in tanker talk) and are useless to Hezbollah? If they go to Kuwait for maintenance, then I hope we don't give them back to IRAQ.

LTC (Join to see) - my fear isn't that they are used against us. It's they are sold to Russia or China to be reverse engineered....or at the very least get their hands on it to figure out weaknesses.
Everyone raise your hand if you believe that the Iraqi military let alone the government is as serious about solving the issue of Isis and making progress in self governance without the use of American money, influence, troops and materiel's, or the threat of using Russia to get what they want? I see no hands. Bueler.....Bueler....Bueler..... Until we say NO MORE, it's sink or swim, we're out, they're going to continually call us to do their "dirty" work. They had the chance to have a stabilization force remain in country, but the PM made a point of telling Obama he wanted us GONE. Now that the shit has hit the fan, he wants us back. The hell with him. When you're ready to fight call us, and press one for English, two for Americans tired of caring, three for Americans who DGAF about you or your country, and 0 for an operator in Iraq who would assist you in getting the right person from the first three.

After all, it isn't as if there was an OPERATION PAPERCLIP II to give them American citizenship and jobs while protecting them from prosecution for their actions and it isn't as if there was any facade of "deBaathization" like there was of "deNazification" in Germany so that the leaders of the Third Reich could get back to work earning good money rebuilding Germany.
