I watched this on 60 minutes last night. I found out that the ZIKA VIRUS actually started in AFRICA YEARS ago....and only recently has been moving to other countries and in the past few years has exploded around South America.
We've known about this disease all of this time, but no studies have been done...no research to prevent it or cure it has been done....and it just took Congress 10 months to finally decide to give money for funding to find a cure or to find a way to prevent it with inoculations.
It is not known that the ZIKA virus can be transmitted through bodily fluids such as saliva or sexual intercourse.
WHAT THE HECK?!?!?! Why hasn't anything been done so far? When it first started spreading from Africa to other countries is when we should have started looking for a cure...Any idiot would or should know that sooner or later it's going to get to this side of the world.

Sgt Kelli Mays, I watched it too and caught the part that it's already here in every state but Alaska. The only thing I saw to help keep from getting it is to stay sprayed with Deet or a mosquito repellent. Another thing that can be done is to ensure there is no standing water in yards, old tires, etc.

It's all about the almighty $$$$! Sadly! Once these species start moving to the western hemisphere thats when 'prevention' kicks in. WHO, CDC, UN track theses issues for years.
