Thanks for reminding us SP5 Mark Kuzinski that on this day so many decades ago "Apollo 11, the U.S. spacecraft that had taken the first astronauts to the surface of the moon, safely returns to Earth." The families of astronauts Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin Jr., and Michael Collins breathed sighs of relief as their husbands/fathers splashed down safely.
Those of us who remembered the early space missions remembered that space vehicles landed in the oceans when they came back to earth.

Good morning Alan - Newspapers!? What are they?? (LOL) Don't get me started - I used to get the Detroit News and also the Detroit Free Press along with the WSJ and also our local paper. Needless to say and like most news paper organizations they all went to the dark side (Liberal) - they got so bad that they weren't worth wrapping dead fish in them. Canceled them out so long ago.
I have kept many of the papers from all of the Detroit sports teams major victory's (Not taking up much space with them). Is it time for a beer yet??

SP5 Mark Kuzinski - I also have a first day cover hand cancelled on the Moon and then Washington DC....It came through Ayerst Labs which was a vendor on the mission and my grandfather being a well respected Dr. was asked by them if he was interested in one....I collected stamps at the time so he said yes...One of my prized possessions.
