We are Service Members, not mercenaries.... If the mission isn't sustainable or the goals were achieved, then end the war. Sounds like someone might be trying to pander for the vet vote in the upcoming election...

Thank you, my friend SFC William Farrell for making us aware. It seems very strange to me, that some legislators are proposing a deal to end our participation and war-fighting in the GWOT war in Afghanistan and give every GWOT veteran a $2,500 bonus. I suppose that would mean everybody who was awarded the GWOT medal/ribbon would be eligible for the bonus.
THis certainly seems like a politically motivated gambit.
Caveat: I was awarded the GWOT medal/ribbon.

What is the logic for the bonus?
Just because?
To sweeten the pot and try to get support from veterans organizations?
At some point, you have to decide what constitutes success and bring the Soldiers home. I think that was a while ago.

It is what Federal and State Legislators do. They take money from tax payers and then give SOME of it back. Then they laugh at us when we give them our vote as gratitude.
