I never forget when our Catholic Priest said in his homily that the term Corinthian would mean someone from Corinth but it was, at that time, a reputation of Corinthians being 'Party Animals' of the Roman World . LOL. Interesting context I did not know before either.

I was listening to the Jewish Archeologist heading up the dig saying the Philistines got a Bum Rap it was the Hebrews that were the Country Bumpkins the Mountain Tribal People and the Philistines that were the Civilized Intellectual City People while History portrays it as reverse of that. Too this day we refer to someone that is Anti-Intellectual as a Philistine.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - Now the new Philistines of 2016 try to force the Army Aviation unit called the Crusaders to change their Motto or Mascot.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - Its probably more like poking fun at somebody than anything else !! has no relevance today because none of us have actually seen a Philistine

Thanks for a ironic title which might make Jonathan Swift smile PO1 William "Chip" Nagel.
The stench has left those dead bones of the unearthed Philistines; but, their lives have long since left them.
It would be nice if as much could be learned about the Philistines from this epoch as was learned about Roman life when Pompeii, which was buried by the Vesuvius eruption, was dug out.
