COL Mikel J. Burroughs We've heard about these abuses for years. It seems though that in the last year the executives of Wounded Warrior project have abused the funds for their own benefit .According to it's tax forms, spending on conferences and meetings went from $1.7 million in 2010, to $26 million in 2014. That is almost the same amount spent on combat stress recovery its top program. All of this lavish spending began just after Steven Nardizzi became CEO in 2009, so yes I think he should step down.

We discussed the Wounded Warrior Project on another discussion thread sometime ago, CPT (Join to see). I observed at the time that Charity Navigator indicates that WWP reported only spending 59.9% of total revenues on program expenses (defined as expenses spent on the programs and services it delivers) for the fiscal year ending 9/2014. These guys certainly deserve further scrutiny and I'd certainly consider other options for my charitable contributions. COL Mikel J. Burroughs

LTC Stephen C. and CPT (Join to see) When I read things like this and I look at the program that I'm volunteering about 40 to 50 hours a week to on top of my regular job and family (Sponsor a Vet Life); and that has been self-funded for almost two years and what we could have we done with those types of funds to open up 40 regions in the virtual world and gotten thousands of veterans into our program. Then I think of the number of soldiers who lost their lives to suicide that could have used that help. There is no excuse for this - none! You can have a board meeting over the phone or in the Virtual World for absolutely no expense and that money can be used to help more veterans and active duty members! Poor leadership!

That money is raised on the showings of amputees and burn victims. Not lavish conferences. He must go. I get turned down for programs all the time because there is not enough space or sorry but the registration event has ended. Its frusturating not being able to participate. Not to mention how much they are spending compared to adding 4 hockey tickets to an event which I have to drive 3 hours for. They say no lodging or travel reimbursement provided yet they can enjoy the splendors on the backs of our wounded service members. SICKENING! DISGUSTING!
