This is news?
Of COURSE it is tough. They are changing careers. That is never easy. For most, not only are they changing careers they are moving into an entirely different field.
When I left the world of finance to become a macrame artist there was a steep learning curve. When I transitioned form nurse to lawyer, I wasn't ready for to start back at the bottom and make a new name for myself. Leaving the fine dining world where I had earned my sommelier rating and becoming a dog groomer was certainly a challenge.
Well, DUH!
Why are we shocked that changing careers means learning new skills, new language, and starting back over at the bottom of the heap? That is what changing careers MEANS.
This article, and others like it, keep trating the military as some sort of mystical religion whose members acquire superhuman abilities which exempt them from normal life.
Bull shit.
