Thanks for informing us SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL that former Staff Sgt. Clint Romesha did not really want to write a book and that he wrestled with the idea until he realized he had been given a chance to honor his fellow soldiers as well as the eight men who gave their lives on Oct. 3, 2009 at Combat Outpost Keating in eastern Afghanistan. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions that day above and beyond the call of duty. I expect he will grieve the los of his eight brother0in-arms for the rest of his life. I hope and pray he does not feel any guilt over their deaths and that he is thankful that he was able to save so many others in the course of his actions that day.
There was a lot of valor and bloodshed that day as is evidenced by the fact that Former Staff Sgt. Ty Carter, who also fought at COP Keating, also received the Medal of Honor for his actions during the battle and at least nine other soldiers from the troop received the Silver Star, the nation’s third highest award for valor.
Hopefully the sales of “Red Platoon: A True Story of American Valor” will do well and that readers of his book will get a chance to learn about his platoon mates and the men he served alongside.
FYI SrA Christopher Wright
