Yeah, I have heard this, and Brian Greene when they talk about what is Life. Simply the difference boils down to this: DNA. Every living thing has it, non living things don't. DNA is just information that can be passed down, and in a way, it grants us immortality...since we have basically the same DNA as anyone who ever lived before us...because DNA is inherently stable. Less than one mistake in a billion copies...unfortunately those one in a billion mistakes make for some horrendous human suffering.

I think about this often, and even though we can explain exactly that those physical processes are...if we put those same chemicals together...we don't get Life. We can make brain cells out of stem cells, and grow them in a petri dish, but are they thinking thoughts?

It the physical processes follow the laws of physics - then life was present in the Big Bang, as was intelligence. So Life is an emergent property ...maybe. LOL

Who wants to live past meeting Jesus? Personally I don't think we have 10 years. 1/3 of the earth burned up by fire. Australia may be just the start. 1/3 of the population destroyed by plague, 1/3 of the oceans destroyed by less and less saltwater, because of melting ice caps. Less and less fish, because we take more than we can use, and faster then species can reproduce. When exactly did Skrod become tasty. Earthquakes in diverse places.
You got family and friends you know aren't headed for the long "H" word. I humbly suggest you start talking the talk, or walking the walk.
Or, better yet, both.
For those who have no idea what I am talking about, check out the back of The Book (Bible) to see whodunit. {Hint: It wasn't the butler.}
