I've long held that the best way to test the power of your convictions is to speak them openly, in a room full of those who disagree with you. One problem I see with the prevailing liberal position, is that it's largely communicated where it's certain to be appreciated... college campuses, metropolitan cities, etc. Come down to rural America, Mr. Moore; walk into any local diner or church, speak your mind... and listen to the opposing view. I can't be certain, but the experience may make you feel less a "centrist" than you imagine.

I live within 5 miles of Michael Moore's Torch Lake Multi-million dollar estate. He likes to convince himself that he does live in "rural America," and that he frequents middle America's local diners and bars. He doesn't. When the locals who have jobs accidently stop in Mr. Moore's "hangouts" they get "service with a snarl" and a warm beer that sat on the bar for 45 minutes before the waitress finally brings it over.
Let's just say that the greater Traverse City metropolitan area is the San Francisco of Michigan's lower peninsula. Mr. Moore goes to the local Brew Pubs, Designer Whiskey bars, and Boutique Wine tasting rooms where he is surrounded by unemployed 30 something hipsters with man buns, sporting kilts or skinny jeans, that live in mom and dad's basement. Never mind the fact that if they did away with "that that gave us Trump" there would be no basements for his "posse" to live in.
