Yes, a 16 gauge single barrel break open shotgun that I purchased at Montgomery Ward for $29.00. Actually, I paid a little less thanks to an employee discount. I was a sales clerk in the sporting goods department at the time. I took it to the Loch Raven Gun Club (north of Baltimore), home of world champion shooters. Standing on the trap line among other shooters with their priceless 12 gauge pieces, I drew more than a few snickers until I began shooting. I rarely missed. In fact, the young man pulling the traps had to pause the shooting and walk over to ask me to delay my shots. I was spraying the top of the trap house breaking the targets as they barely cleared the roof. One gentleman asked politely if his wife could fire my gun. She set aside a $3,000 Remington pump action and fired one round with my cheap gun. It knocked her on her ass. The husband informed me that she had been laughing behind my back because my gun rocked me with every shot. I would go home with a very bruised shoulder. The gun was so light and I bore the full brunt of every recoil. Still, I earned some measure of respect from some very good shooters. Their international trophies attested to rounds when the team fired perfect scores of 500. Only one listed just 499 (and I imagined that the person who missed that one target was banned from the club) I only ever fired one weapon worse than the Monkey Ward shotgun, the .45 1911 that I carried in Vietnam (but that's another story)
