LTC Stephen Ford: I was stationed in West Germany when this Neil Young album was released
in 1969. I went to Kaiserslautern with my girlfriend and bought the album at the Vogelweh
shopping center. Karen loved "Cinnamon Girl" and I liked "Down By The River". I brought the
album home and still play it on the turntable with the rest of my vinyl albums and 45 RPM records
from the 1960's. Really brought back some memories of Germany. Stephen Stills lived here in
Gainesville in the mid 60's and attended Gainesville High School with Eagles guitarist Don Felder
and Bernie Leadon. Tom Petty was also a student at GHS in the 60's.

Hello Woody,
Thanks for your backstory!
I arrived on scene in 1977, & Mudcrutch was I think a “regular” at Dubs & other good music resorts in the North Florida area at the time. I’m at a loss also w/o further research on the “Mudcrutch” name.
I recently visited our local Mathewson Museum & saw the Petty display of great paraphernalia that local family and fan groups have gathered.
I think it’s only on display til the 11th if your interested.
For info call 378-2280. Address is 513 E.University Ave.

SSG Robert "Rob" Wentworth - Tom Petty and Mudcrutch were almost like a house band at Dubs back when Dubs had the topless dancers up on the stage :o). We had some great times at that place on the weekends. There were a few fights that broke out inside usually over the young ladies. Dubs' bouncers would throw the guys out the door where the fight would continue in the parking lot until GPD arrived and arrested the fist fighters. I never saw anyone pull a gun on someone and no one was hit by gunfire like what happens today. With all the bands that played at Dubs before they became famous I can't believe the city of Gainesville did not make that building a city historic landmark. The social security office is there now. I left out one famous person who started his recording career in the 1950's and he moved to Florida and was living just outside Gainesville. Bo Diddley who my wife and I met at a store opening event he was at in Gainesville a few years before he died. I made a picture of Bo Diddley standing next to my wife and daughter and he autographed the back of the photo.

I forgot about him as well!
And I met both he & his wife in Hawthorne when I created some personal financing for an addition to their home.
Too many memories!
I wish they had never come to an end!
Thanks so much Woody!
