Virginia State Congressman "suggested that the National Guard could enforce gun control laws the Assembly passes:
“I’m not the governor, but the governor may have to nationalize the National Guard to enforce the law. That’s his call, because I don’t know how serious these counties are and how severe the violations of law will be. But that’s obviously an option he has.”
The State Congressman has no idea how the National Guard works. The Governor cannot "nationalize the National Guard". He can mobilize them for statewide duties, but only the President can "nationalize" them, at which time command and control of those forces would be transferred to Federal authority. I would predict that is exactly what the Governor would wish to avoid!

If the Guard is nationalized, the Governor, rather than the citizens, would be its likely target.

Definitely Agree Col CARL Whicker!
That’s what happens when ‘congressmen’ don’t really know what they are talking about...LOL
