To get there, Gilbert and others have to figure out how much protection people need to avoid hospitalization and death from COVID-19, or even to prevent getting infected at all.
But 15 months after COVID-19 shut down most of the world, it's still not clear what level of immune protection is enough.

This reminds me of the effort to map DNA.
The idea that researchers will be able to quantify the level of antibodies required to 'protect' people from catching or spreading a COVID 19 variant is akin to Dr Fauci telling us to mask or not or how far away to stand from each other in this antisocial season :-(
