Something else is going on here, something that the article isn't mentioning. I don't know what it is but threatening America with a few training flights from a base in Venezuela that may or may not be operational beyond next week, doesn't make sense. No, this is posturing. Who are they posturing for? To what purpose? Nothing at this level is ever what it seems...

CPT Jack Durish I agree. Let’s ask our resident spook? PO1 William "Chip" Nagel what do you think Chip?

I agree too. Are we in Ukraine and Finland causing pressure? Syria?
I don't like it. However, I do enjoy f****** with the CICOMS and Islamc terrorsts and their Islamc State sponsors.
The Russians see themselves as European. Shouldn't we be trying to end the cold war?

Nicaragua is right next to Honduras. I know that Honduras is not have any main battle tanks. They may have a couple scorpion light tanks but that's about it. Nicaragua has not shown any aggressive action toward Honduras at this time.

50 Russian battle tanks headed to Nicaragua
Russia will deliver 50 new T-72B1 battle tanks to Nicaragua this year, in a deal worth some US $80 million, in a move that is sparking concerns in Central America.

Show of force. Venezuela is imploding like a black hole. There's already thousands of Cuban Secret Service Secret Service and Military in the country. So it is part of the Russian sphere of influence. The Iranians are also friends with Venezuela

While the sale of the tanks to Nicaragua makes me wonder if they have conquest on their minds. We can deal with it if necessary, but we are still spread pretty thin. If Russian crews are manning the TU-160s and they wind up being stationed in Venezuela, that would violate the Monroe Doctrine and I would think that Pres. Trump would not indulge the Russians.

CPT (Join to see) not sure how friendly we are with the panamanians, but we can always have a couple f-22s over there nearby at our old Air Base.

I remember the Cuban Missile Crisis and if the Russians were to station their nuclear capable bombers there, the world should tremble.

They are looking for a way to knock us off balance in this hemisphere much like they did with Cuba back in the day. This is their payback for all things Ukraine. They are sending grain and bombers to Venezuela. I bet the grain will be delivered on Russian ships with Russian Naval escorts which will set up base somewhere near Caracas, you know, just for security of their ships and all.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - They had a Soviet Naval base near Guantanamo Bay for many decades. It is likely a Russian Naval Base today. I think it served it's purpose for them to have a foothold 90 miles from the US. I will grant you it was more symbolism over substance but there they were. The Soviets in Cuba is the reason I was born in Key West in 1963. My Dad, a career USAF Security Service guy was sent down to the Naval base to take out trawlers to eavesdrop on the Russians.

Cpl Jeff N. People tend to forget about Soviets in Cuba, most think that after the missile crisis they just packed up and went away.
