This is an interesting piece. I would never have thought to compare the Trump presidency to the Carter presidency........but there are parallels. The two men are quite different.......I believe Carter was a decent and moral man who meant well, but failed as a POTUS. Trump, on the other hand, is not a decent or moral man in my opinion, and his motivation for wanting to be our POTUS is questionable. But Carter did have a fractured party, which he led poorly, and became a one term POTUS as a result. Trump has a fractured party, which he is leading poorly, and is likely to be a one term POTUS (if he even makes it through the full term). So, different men, at a different period of history, may well suffer identical fates.

I personally like to compare Trump to Churchill! Why because both men were/are self driven!? But some times people change under certain circumstances. Not every one who comes into power pulls a Hitler or Stalin. However, I think I'll reserve judgement of our current POTUS at the end of his term. Wishing anyone that leads us to fail is like knowing your walking into a viper pit and thinking you'll come out alive. It's just not smart thinking. What's done is done. I'm sure a lot of young men following you had their reservations? It takes leaders to know leaders, but even leaders need a chance to fix the cluster F*** before us.

I am enjoying watching the Republicans choose between being lemmings and a circular firing squad.
