Time may, or may not bring more clarity to what happened many years ago, and sometimes it asks two more questions for every question it answers. That certainly has been the case for me, as I reflect back on what happened back in 1997.

SGT Steve McFarland an important topic my friend, I lost a friend to PTSD suicide. It affects me to this day, God Bless all whom are dealing with this disease. I am battling with it daily. It's part of my life, but I am dealing with it through the VA and my God.

21 + years since that devastating day....PTSD IS REAL....breaks my heart that my deceased USAF HUSBANDS suicidal death, does not meet VA requirements?!?! Adding too the devastation of the surviving family! Wrong, so wrong!

I think the stigma placed on someone who should seek mental health help helps lead to a sense of helplessness and desperation that results in suicide.

I hope you don't carry guilt. When I run across veterans who are suicidal, I tell them to fight with every ounce of energy. Stay focused on basic "infantry" habits like sleeping, eating, hygiene, and working out. I wrote a paper on PTSD I would love to share with you, should you be so inclined.
