Good morning Col Burroughs. Vacations, even working ones, come to an end too quickly. To all my RP family, I am going to muddy the waters today, because the motivational quote takes me to a controversial subject. What is and where is Paradise? I have included a link below, one of which there are many to choose from, that talks about this very subject. It may confuse some and enlighten others. I pray that you honestly look at and pray over the material presented below. Have a blessed day today and always.

What Is The Difference Between Heaven, Paradise and Purgatory?

When Jesus was hanging on the cross between two thieves, one of the thieves railed at Him and made fun of Him. The other thief admitted they deserved to be punished, but said Jesus had done nothing wrong. Then he turned to Jesus and said, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." Jesus said to him, "Today you will be with me in Paradise" (Luke 23:39-43). So paradise must be where Jesus is, because the thief was going to be there with him. It also must be a place that those who have faith in the Lord will enter immediately upon death. Paradise is a place of bliss and happiness. But it would seem to be an intermediate place, as opposed to the final establishment of a new heaven and a new earth which we have referred to elsewhere (see 2 Peter 3:10-13, Revelation 21:1-7).

In certain instances heaven refers to the place where God rules. Heaven also refers to the final place where the spirits of the righteous dead will spend eternity after they have been joined with their resurrection bodies. Also, heaven can mean the space above the earth.

The wicked dead, as in the story of the rich man and Lazarus, go immediately to a place called Hades (see Luke 16:20-25). They are waiting for a final judgment when they will be cast into the lake of fire with the devil and his angels (see Revelation 20:11-15). So in a sense there is an intermediate heaven and an intermediate hell.

The concept of purgatory is not biblical. Purgatory is supposed to be a transition period of indefinite duration intended for the perfecting of those people who die in Christ. It is taught that they experience suffering to pay for the sins they committed in this life until they are ready to enter into heaven. The Bible does not teach that. The apostle Paul said, "I am hard pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you" (Philippians 1:23-24).

Paul knew only of two states of being. Either he was going to stay on earth, or he was going to be with Jesus. The concept of purgatory seems to have been unknown to the apostles and does not seem to have any biblical basis at all. The Bible teaches that there are levels of heaven, but there is no mention of a place of purging and torment that would bring us up to a point of being acceptable to God after death (see 2 Corinthians 12:2).

I hope you recognize that demonstrating respect to each person you interact with and encouraging others to demonstrate respect is a primary principle in improving the lives of each of us. I expect that you are spiritually mature enough to be a servant leader. No doubt you are honorable and conscientious. ‘For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. [1 Peter 2:15-17 ESV] my brother-in-Christ PO1 H Gene Lawrence and sister-in-Christ Linda Lawrence.

Many seek earthly paradise. Some look externally and others look to find paradise within themselves. Relationship is the source of paradise on earth and alternately as hell on earth. Our relationship with the LORD is the foundation for all other relationships in our life. ‘For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.’ [Romans 5:10-11 ESV]
I lift individuals who are fearful, nervous, troubled and/or despondent to YOU LORD. I pray that YOU bless each with a large measure of hope and the ability to endure through the trials they are going through. 'There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because he first loved us.' [1 John 4:18-19 ESV]
I pray that each of YOUR adopted sons and daughters who reads this prayer or hears it are content in our current situation. I pray for a sufficient increase of the fruit of the Spirit faithfulness and self-control for each of us. I pray that you and I demonstrate respect and encourages each person we are responsible for and those who look to us for leadership, advice, or fellowship. And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.8This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” [Matthew 22:37-40 ESV]
Thank YOU, LORD for YOUR Word which YOU store in our soul. YOU are the source and fulfiller of all hope. YOU dwell in Heaven and YOU have prepared a place for each of YOUR own for eternity. ‘But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.’ 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 ESV]
I pray that you and your family members sleep well Saturday night and will awake healthy on Sunday morning.

Good morning Col Burroughs and Posse and welcome to the weekend. It certainly looks like Paradise where you are Col B.
I suspect that if we were asked to describe Paradise, there would be some similiarities but enough differences to make each person's vision unique. Paradise is the place we dream of but cannot stay...that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to spend some of our life there. I think we can all build a little bit of that paradise feeling into our daily lives. What is it that moves you, that makes you feel that you've arrived somewhere special? How can you bring some of that into your life and your space?
