I heard this quote a little differently but since I am a sailor I claimed it much the same.
The Devil whispered in the sailor's ear you are not strong enough to withstand the storm.
The sailor whispered back I am the storm.

The sailor whispered back I am the storm.

Good evening my friend and sister-in-Christ Sgt Deborah Cornatzer.
Heavenly Father, YOU love each of us and those we love more than we can comprehend. YOU are the perfect Father who trains each of us who are YOUR adopted children throughout our lives. YOU build strength of character and endurance in us through trials and testing and YOU never allow us to go through more than we can bear.
I pray that YOU give us patience with our children and spouse as we enter the crucibles of life. Help us to be servant leaders of our families and help us to build bridges with neighbors and even our enemies.
I pray that YOU give each of us eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart sensitive to YOU. Help the mature in faith to lead and coach those less mature as we go through tough circumstances. Build trust between husband and wife and between parents and children to withstand the onslaughts of challenges we will invariably face over our lifetime.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

We don't know what we are capable of until we are faced with something difficult. Maybe it is right versus wrong but the wrong is so tempting. Perhaps it is delaying something we truly want. Maybe it is congratulating the person who got the promotion you thought you should have gotten. What do you do in those situations? Tough situations reveal who you really are inside. COL Mikel J. Burroughs

One of my favorite sayings is “Calm waters make poor sailors “. I think tough situations can refine you and expose who you truly are.

Tough situations require patience and wisdom....this week I went to the good book to be reminded that we should:
"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord, he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways." James 1:2-8 COL Mikel J. Burroughs Maj Marty Hogan Lt Col Charlie Brown LTC Stephen F. Sgt John H. LTC David Brown SGT Denny Espinosa PO2 Roger LaFarlette

Don't say why me- say try me. Love that and I think we all have felt the why me many times. Successful people brush adversity aside and find other ways to conquer, go over, under, or through problems. Great thoughts on your birthday Col. Have a great day from all of us here on RP.

Maj Marty Hogan There's almost always at least one flip side to most tough situations -- the trick is sitting down, looking at the thing from all angles and then grabbing those up-sides. Sometimes they are reeeeeeeal hard to see.

LTC Stephen F. Crucibles... good word! Your prayers are such poetry. Do you keep a journal of them somewhere?
