Maslow, probably the first of his ilk that I encountered in school. Still live by many of his theories.

Good evening my friend and brother-in-Christ Maj Robert Thornton.
Heavenly Father, YOUR word teaches us to be servant leaders as the Christ is our teacher, example, strength and HOPE. I pray that YOU help each of YOUR adopted sons and daughters to lead through service as we are developed and in turn develop others to YOUR glory.
YOU justified each of us at salvation and YOU are sanctifying each as YOU develop us and conform us into the image of the Christ. I pray that YOU give each of us compassion, tenderness, and grace as we develop family members, friends, subordinates, coworkers and everybody YOU move us to interact with.
Help us to be great listeners and give us patience throughout these efforts of self-development and development of others.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

If we all took just one step a day toward making ourselves better just think how far we would get in a year's time. It doesn't have to be big, just thoughtful and deliberate. I constantly review my skills as a counselor and I look for books/courses/workshops to develop my skills especially in those areas where I see a future requirement or where I have been called upon and felt my knowledge insufficient. If you are going to be a standout leader of others, you need to constantly evaluate yourself and take steps to improve your knowledge and skills. Where are you going to start?

Great quote, but I tend to have a lot of momentum (habits) when attempting to change direction. That's when I find out just where that change lies on my list of priorities.
