And the author couldn't find a picture of one?
Air Force stil using M24s, but might finally be shifting to the M110. A few units have been using it, but it looks like a more general adoption of it.

It's basically H&K's version of the AR10. looks like a 7.62 M4

It seems that the 7.62 is a step backwards in any military rifle. Just my opinion and we all know what that's worth...

I figured they would go with something like the 6.5 creedmore or a .300 variant. I guess they really need to work out exactly the parameters of distance, knock down, etc. before the start buying rifles

We've been using 7.62 for decades. The issue is not the round, but the range. This "compact" variant has a shorter barrel length which significantly reduces the range from 1300+ to 800m which is the real problem.
