The Real World of Obamacare Repeal

I'm going to disagree with you on this one. I live in Eastern KY and have seen how much Obamacare has changed the lives and attitudes of the people that either lost insurance or could never afford it. "Ripping off the band-aid" is easy to say for people like you and me, as we already have insurance through Tri-Care or could afford it through retirement and/or disability payments. The poor and working poor aren't as lucky

SSG Michael Hartsfield - The ACA is a great deal for some of the working poor but it screws a lot over. All it takes is one major hospital visit and a family living off of around $30,000 a year suddenly goes from making it to struggling due to medical debt. Those who are lucky enough to have coverage through work, such as myself, still have to deal with high deductibles that range anywhere between $2,000-$16,000 before insurance will even pay a penny of the bill. If you go for government assistance in this scenario, it's likely that you would be rejected since this is literally right on the cutoff line for medicaid- but hey, they'll pay about $50 of the $200 a month bill you will accrue if you sign up on the marketplace for a secondary plan. There are plenty of working poor who wouldn't even be able to tell the difference if they lost health insurance tomorrow.
