And when i was in Vietnam SP5 Mark Kuzinski they also had cold beer. I was used to warm beer and lousy food until we took a bird up to DaNang to drop off some oil samples from our helicopters. We we met some AF guys and one of them asked if Id like a beer. Never one to refuse, I said sure. They may have asked if I wanted it cold and I really said sure, I havent had a cold one since Ive been in Nam. Well he just took a case of beer and hit it with a fire extinguished! Presto, instant cold beer! I was in heaven.

Capt Seid Waddell - You described it well Seid. Yes, we also got to eat at the Navy chow hall in DaNang. First time in Nam i didn't have powered eggs. If my memory serves me right, I think I even had a steak there.

SFC William Farrell, as I recall, the Army chow hall got a monthly budget based upon how many people ate there; the Air Force by how many people were assigned to the unit; and the Navy based upon the number assigned plus the extra number of people that ate there in the previous month.

As a result, the Navy had the largest budget and that got them the best food. At least that was the story I was told by a Marine officer attached to our unit.
