This World War II Cruiser Carried the Atomic Bomb (It Was Sunk Soon After)

I find it disturbing that even in that time period, politics reared it's ugly head and played a part in the lives of these men, not to mention the suicide death of the skipper, Capt. McVay! This ship, this crew, and this Captain delivered the very cargo that saved tens of thousands of lives, had the bombs that were used to bring Japan to it's knees were not delivered safely. The battle of Okinawa proved that if we were to invade Japan itself, the casualties would have been horrendous. Indeed, The entire crew were made scapegoats rather than hero's CW5 Jack Cardwell
