The last Shogun- Tokugawa Yoshinobu (徳川 慶喜, also known as Tokugawa Keiki; October 28, 1837 – November 22, 1913) was the 15th and last shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate of Japan. He was part of a movement which aimed to reform the aging shogunate, but was ultimately unsuccessful. After resigning in late 1867, he went into retirement, and largely avoided the public eye for the rest of his life.

Thanks for informing us Maj Marty Hogan that today in the anniversary of the birth of Tokugawa Yoshinobu who was the 15th and last shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate of Japan.
The shogun was "military dictator of Japan during the period from 1185 to 1868 (with exceptions). In most of this period, the shoguns were the de facto rulers of the country, although nominally they were appointed by the Emperor as a ceremonial formality."
