My youngest son is 25 and he has been supporting himself for many years including having his own medical insurance SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL.
If the 23-year-old was a special-needs son I would be more sympathetic to this situation. It is interesting to me that this military spouse seems to think the government is responsible for the son's healthcare. That is probably fall-out from all the hype that accompanied the "Affordable Care Act" which is far from universal and definitely not affordable.

I would agree LTC Stephen F. with the university or college having health care plans.

There are options other than Tricare, it really does depend on the state he lives in.
The infamous Obamacare cost my son nothing in the state he lives in for health care. He is going to school and has at part time job.

Check out Humana. I purchased young adult policies for both of my kids for $262 per month. TriCare young adult is a joke.

Yes. I bought them both policies for their birthdays. Middle daughter is a USAF officer's wife so she has TriCare. Baby is in college to be a doctor. So I figure she can "pay me back" when she gets her first brain surgeon job. My son is an audio engineer so when he mixes his first multi-million dollar album, he can pay me back...
