United Airlines lounges offer veteran-owned beer through November, for a good cause

United Club members flying through select cities this month will be able to support military charities just by quenching their thirst.

Through the end of November, three different drink options will be available in United Airlines lounges that will help raise money for troops and veterans.


Dog Tag Brewing’s Legacy Lager, which honors a fallen service member on each can, will be available in Washington, D.C./Dulles, Denver, New York/Newark, San Francisco and Honolulu airports. Veteran Beer Company’s Hooyah! IPA will be offered in Chicago. Not a beer drinker? You're covered with Patriot's Punch, a combination of Maker’s Mark bourbon, fruit juices and Prosecco.


Club members can purchase the beers for $4 each, with $1 going toward the USO, which provides programs and services to troops and their families. The punch is $6, with $1 per sale going to Operation Homefront's Holiday Meals for Military, which offers holiday meal kids for families in need.
Dog Tag Brewing donates 100 percent of its profits from Legacy Lager to the Dog Tag Brewing Foundation, which benefits charities created or selected by Gold Star families. Veteran Beer Company focuses on helping vets gain employment after leaving the service and combating suicide by donating to charities.


“At United, we have thousands of team members who served or are serving in the armed forces, and we're committed to honoring the courage these men and women have shown,” said Maddie King, a United spokeswoman. “Partnering with Dog Tag Brewing Foundation and Veteran Beer Company is a unique way to honor the brave men and women, while also providing support to veteran-affiliated non-profits.”
