Thank you my friend SSG(P) (Join to see) for making us aware about this press release which was posted by Fox.
1. ISIS and radical Islam have established sleeper cells over the past few years [and decades]. Long ago Palestinian terrorists were trained by USSR and Warsaw Bloc intel services - sleeper cells and blending in with refugees were early skills.
2. I expect the fighters left in Baghouz will all be killed and many will be suicide bombers IMHO.
3. The current leader of ISIS Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi [real name is Ibrahim Awad Ibrahim al-Badr] was born in Iraq. His status has not been made available on open sources.
4. As far as what to do with foreign nations who fought for ISIS. "Iraq could help transfer non-Iraqi ISIS detainees held by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Syria, Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi said on Tuesday.
Iraq will either help repatriate those citizens to their home countries, or prosecute on its own those suspected of having committed crimes, he said at his weekly news conference.
“Some countries could ask Iraq to help to transfer some of her Daesh citizens to the other country, like France for example,” Abdul Mahdi said, using the Arabic acronym for ISIS. “Iraq might help, would help, helped to transfer those people to their country. It is one battle and Iraq should fulfill its duties and obligations.” from http://english.alarabiya.net/en/News/middle-east/2019/02/27/Iraq-PM-says-country-could-take-non-Iraqi-ISIS-detainees-from-Syria.html
5. I expect this overt attempt to establish the Islamic caliphate will be put on a back-burner for sometime as radicals plan their next moves.
6. Identifying and dismantling the financial networks including foreign government officials and groups/processes, etc who served to transfer or auction stolen artifacts, oil, etc. is most likely being worked. That needs to be successfully dismantled to reduce repetition of this kind of massive criminal enterprise.
