Thank you, my friend SSG Shavonde Chase for making us aware that Southwood Apartments in Morrow, Georgia have [according to Quamica Keith] "10 handicap accessible units in the complex and none of them have been assigned to someone with special needs."
CBS 46 investigated and the local management was "out to lunch"and the corporate office, PK Management in Ohio has not responded by July 24, 2019
Thankfully "CBS46 will continue to reach out to the management company and work to get results for the veteran [Larry Keith and his wife Quamica]."

This is disgraceful. This is the sort of thing that does not need to happen and the apartment complex/management should be taken to task and harassed by letters and phone calls until they fix it.

And if they haven't contacted their state representatives they should do so immediately.

It sounds like the units are there to meet a zoning requirement but not required to reserve them for people with disabilities. Maybe they could negotiate with the next door neighbor??

Hopefully, if the reporter truly cares, she'll do research and find out if the building permit(s) were awarded based on accessible units and/or if the developer received any type of government incentives. But, & I hate the way this sounds, who knows if the residents in those units are "handicapped" or not? As we all know, not all of our disabilities are obvious. I hope local veterans groups can help this guy.

SGT Debra Jahnel I hope that happens. You are right about not seeing disabilities. I look like I live in the gym but I can't raise my right arm above my head. I have a hard time carrying a jug of milk or swinging a hammer
