Thanks for reminding us TSgt Joe C. that on November 13, 1982 near the end of a weeklong national salute to Americans who served in the Vietnam War, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is dedicated in Washington after a march to its site by thousands of veterans of the conflict. The long-awaited memorial was a simple V-shaped black-granite wall inscribed with the names of the 57,939 Americans who died in the conflict, arranged in order of death, not rank, as was common in other memorials.
On October 9, 1999 which is the shared birthday with my darling wife I took her top see the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the nearby Lincoln Memorial and that evening we went to look at ring styles in Tyson's Mall.

I have been involved, in some small way, with the establishment of three memorials in the Nation's Capitol, The Navy Memorial, The Vietnam Veterans Memorial & the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial. In the case of the first two my involvement was financial donations only while the third one involved both financial donations and my volunteering during the fundraising efforts. These three memorials represent high points of my life and career and are important to me as representative of much that I have become.
