I have said it a million times on RP.
I hope it rains, I hope they get their asses smoked off, I hope they get their patrol lost at night, I hope they get their MREs stolen by the platoon chow thief, I hope they get a major minus and major plus spot report, I hope they get recycled in the mountains, I hope they get their blueberry pancakes, I hope they have to take a crap in the patrol base cat hole latrine, I hope they have to go on water resupply, I hope they get peered, I hope they get a RI on his last walk, I hope they get a good snack from one of the pilots, I hope they get chiggers, I hope they have to give an OPORD in Darby, I hope they lose their boots in the Weaver swamp, I hope they throw up after eating too many hotdogs at the DOGEX, I hope they get a care package after every phase, I hope they get a Marine Corps Ranger Instructor, I hope they have a good Ranger Buddy, I hope they hallucinate strange and wonderful things, I hope they enjoy the Tennessee Valley Divide, I hope they have an unlimited supply of moleskin, I hope they carry the M240B, I hope they get graded as the Weapon Squad Leader....
But most of all I hope they get their TAB!!!

CSM, appreciate the response. long night here at the power plant. When I first heard about women attending Ranger School, I thought no way, just joking, like when you first got back to your unit after graduating Ranger school, your senior tabbers would always say "Hey they're going to let women attend." That always fired you up. Don't get me wrong I am not a tab protector, but to me it would have made sense to integrate females into all combat arms first before sending them to Ranger school. Physically there may be some who can make it, but they would have to share the burden like we all did. Everybody had a turn humpin the 60, the radio , the extra ammo & batteries, five quart water blivets and such. If you couldn't hack it you were a blue falcon and the RIs knew it. All came out in the wash during peer evals. Why the female advisors? Don't get it. If there is no special treatment, no separate quarters, no separate patrol base slit trench, why? Spent many a night in the desert, mountain and swamp spooning for heat. How does this this work, you depend on your Ranger buddy. To many questions. Personal hygiene? First shower - Fire hose after worm pit. Still had sawdust in my crack at McGregor range. Buddy rappel ? Carrying two rucks up the TVD "wounded comrade" everybody shared the load. Like I said before to many changes since I was in, to PC now. Current RTB Commander wash our recon platoon PL, "Butter Bar LT" I know back then, he would have given the mere thought a big thumbs down, as would our PSG then SFC B. Lambert. speaking of changing standards, as I recall our 5-mile run and ruck march was done in formation , none of this individual crap. When the RIs told you to touch the Ranger in front of you, you had to. I believe second warning you were yanked out and failed. Thought that was designed to get to the obj as one team, not a mile long wagon train of stragglers.

SSG Jeff Binkiewicz Your statement "but to me it would have made sense to integrate females into all combat arms first before sending them to Ranger school." says it all. That's been my view all along. If you want to train combat leaders, start with combat PEOPLE.

Hmmmm...
"The 16 mile force march/65 lbs of gear, that takes place during RAP week(this week) was not conducted."
...and here I thought that the standards for Ranger school were going to stay the same...

Update on the female Ranger school candidates: "All 8 failed Darby patrols. Some had three shots. Some will be recommended to be dropped. Some will have opportunity to recycle."

The decision seems to have been made for the wrong reason: namely, the careers of female soldiers, instead of the needs and benefits of the Army.
Nobody -- not even a Medal of Honor recipient -- has a *right* to serve in any capacity, let alone the *right* to go to any given school. Decisions on who may or may not attend any school should be based entirely on what will advance the purpose of the Military, which is warfighting.
This is not what I have seen as this decision has come down and been implemented. It had nothing to do with making the Army better at destroying the enemy, and everything to do political correctness and appeasing liberal civilian leadership and others who haven't the foggiest what Ranger School is all about.
Beyond the actual reasons behind the decision, I do have honest questions about how some things will work, practically. For example, I understand that when a rope bridge is needed in Ranger School, one of the candidates is 'randomly' selected by an RI. The candidate then strips naked, swims across with a rope, and thus the bridge is constructed. With the inclusion of females, this gets sticky. Will female candidates be exempt from the possibility of this duty? If so, is this fair? If not, how do you keep the male candidates from ogling her? Would it even be tactically sound for all the other candidates to look elsewhere?
Also, winter Ranger School students commonly report very intimate cuddling to stay warm. How will spouses feel about this, with mixed classes?
Just some thoughts to consider.
