Rule by the lawyers, of the lawyers, and for the lawyers.
I have long maintained that Eric Garner was not killed by bad policing, he was killed because selling someone one cigarette out of your pack is illegal in that jurisdiction. What kind of stupid, nit-picky, over regulating, police time wasting bullcrap is that, anyway?
Note to law makers at all levels- don't pass idiotic, unneeded, and pointless laws. Then, people will not have interactions with police attempting to enforce the ludicrous requirements, interactions that can turn deadly.

Thank you. That's exactly the discussion that my husband and I had about this. Never should have happened in the first place.

Lt Col Charlie Brown - Stalin once said something to the effect there should be so many laws, and contradicting laws, that no one could obey them all. Then, everyone would know they were breaking at least some laws and would be scared of the authorities, thereby making them easier to manipulate and control.

Like no eating ice cream in public....Carmel California. Clint Eastwood ran to get rid of those stupid and insane laws. And he did get rid of many of them.
I'll bet they're back two fold today. 1SG Steven Imerman

Very interesting share. Years ago I recall an article in the Boston Globe about laws from Colonial times that are still on the books. All it takes is one "Cynthia" in a position of authority to bring outdated laws to the forefront again.
