I just returned from a Winchester Medical Center after being transferred from the Martinsburg, WV VAMC emergency room at 0230 Monday August 24 morning. I was taken by ambulance and assigned a room on the 3rd floor.
My balance was off when sitting up and standing up from bed and laying down with my head turned to the left. CT-Scan with contrast didn't reveal much. My eyes rotated clockwise while the world seemed to be spinning. ER doctor hypotheses was benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). He wanted neurologist to evaluate me.
Yesterday afternoon, a neurologist from Winchester Medical Center checked me out and told me I did have BPPV as well as issues with nerve function in my legs related to spinal stenosis.
I was prescribed a medication for vertigo which seems to have helped somewhat: Meclizine at 25 mg tablet three times per day for two more days and then draw down to one tablet per day until symptoms subside.
I went through an assessment for physical therapy for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). I passed that assessment after going through some head and neck exercises to help the posterior semicircular canal function as designed.

I have a consult to get an appointment for physical therapy to help correct vertigo. I plan on resting tonight and will try to schedule an appointment later this week.

In 1990 I was diagnosed with Meniere's disease at Bethesda Naval Hospital. Meniere's disease is caused by a build-up of fluid in the inner ear. It can lead to vertigo with ringing in the ears (tinnitus) and hearing loss.
