That was for sure CW5 Jack Cardwell , not everyone liked the old p t testing, but it was a way to see how out of shape you were in.

The OLD AFPT was HE Double L! My highest score at 39 ws 210 with a busted eye and back-I failed one because they did NOT recognize I was busted up and couldn't do sit ups ON ROCKS WITH a pad the day after shots to dull the pain!!!! I say get Sports Physicians and Trainers to make a safer regulation and test so that injuries are minimal.

Right after leaving the Corps I joined the Army Reserve and ran the APFT,in boots. Yes, it was a little easier than the Marines, but not by much. The biggest difference was the 3 mile Marines run versus, as I recall, the 1.5 mile run the Army did at that time.
