APOD: 2020 February 18 - Orion over the Central Bohemian Highlands

Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Orion over the Central Bohemian Highlands." Based on the location data provided, this composite image was captured near the Osser (Czech: Ostrý), a mountain on the border between Germany and Czechia and part of the Kunisch Mountain range. All pictures were taken from the same location and on the same evening. The labeled features from left to right, clockwise, are Sirius, Betelgeuse, Aldebaran, and Rigel. The reddish curve you see above and to the left of Orion's belt is Barnard's Loop, an emission nebula that is part of the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex. This complex also contains the dark Horsehead Nebula and brighter Orion Nebula seen in the scabbard hanging from Orion's belt.
