APOD: 2019 December 1 - Starburst Galaxy M94 from Hubble

Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Starburst Galaxy M94 from Hubble." Messier 94 (M94) is located 15 million light years away in the constellation the Hunting Dogs (Canes Venatici), and is approximately 30,000 light years across. This Hubble close-up focuses on the central portion of the galaxy (~7,000 light years) due to its ring of bright, massive, and blue stars. This "ripple" of blue stars is likely a wave propagating outward due to gravity and rotational velocity. The ring stars are all likely less than 10 million years old, giving M94 its starburst galaxy designation.
