I am a conservative. I supported the Tea Party's ideals but was not a member. The Republican party can go to hell for all I care. They chose to go against the wishes of a majority of their constituents and they can suffer the consequences just like the Whigs did.

Capt Seid Waddell - Rash? Absolutely but reality will have to force him to rein it in. The guy knows how to get what he wants and if rashness doesn't so it he may decide to use diplomacy and common sense if that is what it takes. He's a pragmatist.

PO2 Robert Cuminale, that is the optimistic view. He shows the same arrogance and ignorance of the real world that Obama has exhibited, but he is rash rather than indecisive like Obama - this is the principle difference I see between the two.

Both show an indifference to Constitutional checks and balances and a disregard for other viewpoints. They are both dividers rather than uniters.

Optimist is not something I'm called very often.
I don't see Obama as indecisive. He ran for the office with an agenda and has followed through at almost every opportunity. He is working Saul Alinsky's "Rules For Radicals" to the letter.
Interesting note. Hilary's 80 page thesis was on Saul Alinsky. She and Obama are disciples through and through.

Both parties are coming apart at the seams after 4 decades of betraying the people.

The GOP lie is that - if you give us tax breaks, you'll prosper too. You know - what Bush 41 called "Voodoo economics."

Bill Clinton, who shook hands with JFK, callously abandoned everything he stood for.

Watch a real president give a news conference.

I will add a press conference of Reagan's from 1986. This was copied to digital from a VHS tape I made at the time, stretching my poor IT skills to the max. This is the news conference when the Iran-Contra issue had just been exposed.

Look for Andrea Mitchell asking a question.

The GOP is split ideologically, and this will hurt their election chances but it is unavoidable.
- If one believes in the sanctity of life one cannot in good conscience support someone that supports abortion on demand.
- If one believes in America's leadership role and responsibilities in the world one cannot support an isolationist.
- If one believes in the Constitutional division of powers and limited government one cannot support a cult of personality unchecked by the Constitution like Obama and Trump both lead.

There are many other areas of serious differences in guiding principles that are larger than Party, and which would have to be abandoned if one were to simply fall in line for the sake of the Party.

Not to mention having to vote for a man with the temperament of a petulant 14-year-old to be in charge of our nuclear weapons.

One is left with the choice of supporting either a disaster or a catastrophe in the general election, and many principled conservatives may well stay home - the results will be ugly no matter which way it turns out. The D or the R will make scant difference in the final results for future of the country.

The real calamity will be in allowing the Democrats to pick four Supreme Court justices. If you don't like what you see now imagine how many worse sights will be seen under a totally Leftist court.

PO2 Robert Cuminale, that is the strongest factor in Trump's favor, although his picks are uncertain as well. We KNOW the types Hillary would pick.

CAPT. Sir As usual you show that you are a wise man. My only difference in opinion is where you said that the D or the R will make scant changes to the final results of the country. To look back over Obama's rein of terror he has done our country a disservice. I for one can't think of much good he has done. The will of the people is being ingored and changes keep coming that cost out counry billions.

MSgt John McGowan, I completely agree with you about Obama; my fear is that Trump is a man cut from the same cloth - shallow, arrogant, ignorant, and hostile to any that don't adore him.

I do not believe that Trump is capable of bringing the country back together or of having a constructive relationship with our competitors and allies around the world. The man is a bull in a china shop - same as Obama, IMHO.
