I was pleased to learn that my Alma Mater USMA has defeated USNA in the Army Navy game at JFK in Philadelphia today December 8, 2018 17 to 10.
I attended that game from 1976 to 1979 at JFK three times and once in Meadowlands. In those days Navy dominated. I am thankful that the Black Knights were victorious today.
That rivalry has extended on the field of generally friendly strife since they first met on the field on November 29, 1890. They have played 117 games. Between 1890 and 1927, they played 30 times. Since 1930, it has been an annual event.
"Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy
Another proud tradition of the academy football season is the competition for the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy, awarded to the academy (Army, Navy or Air Force) with the best record after playing their two counterparts. The award is given to the prior year’s winner in the case of a tie.
The trophy has been awarded to Air Force 20 times, Navy 15 times, and Army 7 times, with 4 ties. The President of the United States often awards the trophy himself at the White House for its presentation. Air Force currently holds the trophy; Navy’s last win was in 2015 and Army’s last win was in 2017. The 2.5-foot-tall, 170-pound trophy is topped with three footballs that rise above figurines of the mascots of the three academies.
In Philadelphia
88 games in Philadelphia (including 2018 Army-Navy Game)
at Municipal/JFK Stadium: 41 games, Navy led 22-16-3
at Franklin Field: 18 games, Army led 11-7
at Veterans Stadium: 17 games, Army led 11-5-1
at Lincoln Financial Field: 11 games, Navy leads 10-1"
Kudos to each team player and the USMA cadets and USNA midshipmen who have met on the field of friendly strife for so many years.

Not sure there was a lot of doubt about outcome this year.

I only got to watch most of the first quarter. I knew Army had a strong team this year, after getting to watch about 5 of their games this year. I got to watch all the Navy games and knew this wasn't a good year for them. Just missing something, can't just put a finger on it. Might be a few things they need work on. Turned out to be a better game than I thought it would though! Congratulations Army!
