Heading out shortly (and without coffee even though this is not a school day!) to the V. A. Medical Center for my heart stress test. I'm not really sure I know what it will prove but the doctor wants it. I presuming that it is to see if they can see a reason for my erratic blood pressure. I thought they had it back under control a couple weeks ago but here it goes again all over the place. As soon as this is over with I'll be heading to the Food Canteen to get some of that gold liquid y'all call coffee! (Actually if they give you a chemical stress test as soon as it's over they give you a cup. They told me the caffeine breaks down the chemicals from the test. Hell of a way to get a free cup of coffee! LOL!)

PFC Francis Dyer - My father never served, period. He escaped the draft by getting married at sixteen with a child on the way and another at seventeen, and me at eighteen plus three more before twenty-two years old. My only relative (step-grandfather) to serve in military service to any extent was in WWII. I had an uncle who joined the Air Force at seventeen and got an undesirable discharge. I didn't understand it at the time but to get a UD from the Air Force you had to be a real F-up.

So, after the chemical test and they escorted me back to the waiting room where my wife was waiting. I was zoning out bad with my face on fire (my wife said I looked like a ghost I was so white) and really dizzy. My legs were numb as if they were almost not even there. I could stand but not walk straight. The staff saw this and quickly got me a wheelchair and took be into the back and started reading my blood pressure. It was in the 170's for the top number. I don't remember the lower number; I was out of it. They got me more coffee to drink for the caffeine with a cola and a snack. It took them about a half hour to get me back to where I was semi-normal and the room quit spinning and another half hour so to get me where I could stand up and walk across the room for more pictures. I've had a previous chemical stress test but nothing like the side effects of this one.
They had a cardiac nurse stay with me the entire time monitoring me until I had my bearing and felt I was ok to leave to go get something to eat. Even then for a bit I was still lightheaded so they wheeled me down to the canteen to get some chow. I feel fine now and even did my daily three mile walk with my son.
I know guys bitch about their V.A. medical centers and lack of care. Thankfully, I have never had that problem at the Mountain Home V. A. They are real professionals who take care of Veterans above and beyond what is expected of them.

Cpl Vic Burk glad things worked out. This past summer I had a nuclear stress test, man things felt weird and I had a run of A-Fib. Hadn’t had any A-Fib in about 15 years. The cardiologist wanted to put me on Elequis, I refused until I had a two week monitoring. Nothing, my watch had not noted any A-Fib either. Staying with my baby Aspirin.

Those stress tests are BS. They'll push you into A-fib.

A1C Medrick "Rick" DeVaney For some reason I'm required to get checked every now and then. I go in but refuse their tests. I simply tell them if they want to know how I feel all they have to do is go look at my wood pile and also to be careful not to trip over my axe.
