TSgt David L. - Thats funny Dave. I just have two Army Commendation Medals, one from Vietnam and one from my Military Police unit. I'm proud of them both as I always did my job. The Arcom from Vietnam was supposed to be a Bronze Star but I had a little alcohol incident with an M16 in Nam so they downgraded it to the Arcom. Both of them are hanging on the wall behind me. When I was in the reserves form which I retired they were not good about giving out any medals at all for some reason. And then I see some guys in other reserve units and the junk they get and you would have thought they won a war all by themselves! lol

SFC William Farrell - That sucks that an "Awe Shit" ruined an "Atta Boy". It happens I guess. I hear you about some guys being war "heroes" all by themselves. Some units hand them out like candy I guess.
Welcome home.

If you have been there and done that classified or not, you don't have to prove anything by talking it up. Learned that early from a Special Forces friend of mine and it carried with me. I served 26 years and that is about all anyone needs to know about me.

Absolutely, Sir. If you served honorably then that should be enough. Embellishing your story shouldn't be necessary. I can't talk about my days of being a Space Shuttle Door Gunner, so y'all will just have to assume what you will! Hahaha

Had one guy try to tell Ne He was in a Ranger unit and did 6 years in Vietnam, I asked what unit He was Has in, He said, "I don't remember" No true Veteran has ever forgot what unit they were in, that doesn't happen ! Besides during the time period He claimed there were no Ranger units there. He was a Vietnam Veteran but was a cook NOT a Ranger. There is also no way I know of anyone could be there six years and never return to the states unless they were either dead, MIA or both. There is nothing wrong with being a cook but don't try to pretend You were something You weren't and take pride in what You actually did do.

I've heard of crap like that. I always figure if you did your job well you could be proud of your service. We all may WISH we did more but making it up seems ridiculous.

PO3 Bob McCord - They may not be appreciated as much but were/are very important to the mission.
