This was a pretty wild song back in 1961, but one I really liked and it turned into an international hit... The song is simply titled "Runaway" by a singer named Del Shannon! I wonder how many of you out their remember this song and Del Shannon!!!
About "Runaway"
"Runaway" is a number-one Billboard Hot 100 song made famous by Del Shannon in 1961. It was written by Shannon and keyboardist Max Crook, and became a major international hit. It is No. 472 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, compiled in 2010.
Del Shannon:
"Charles Weedon Westover (December 30, 1934 – February 8, 1990), better known by his stage name Del Shannon, was an American rock and roll country musician, singer and songwriter, best known for his 1961 number 1 Billboard hit "Runaway".
He learned to play the ukulele and guitar and listened to country-and-western music by artists such as Hank Williams, Hank Snow, and Lefty Frizzell. He was drafted into the Army in 1954 and, while in Germany, played guitar in a band called The Cool Flames. When his service ended, he returned to Battle Creek, Michigan, and worked as a carpet salesman and as a truck driver for a furniture factory. He found part-time work as a rhythm guitarist in singer Doug DeMott's group, The Moonlight Ramblers, working at the Hi-Lo Club." Read more at Wikipedia.com
LYRICS:
Del Shannon - "Runaway"
As I walk along, I wonder
A what went wrong with our love
A love that was so strong
And as I still walk on
I think of the thing's we've done
Together, while our hearts were young
I'm a walkin' in the rain
Tears are fallin' and I feel a pain
A wishin' you were here by me
To end this misery
And I wonder, I wa-wa-wa-wa-wonder
Why, why-why-why-why-why
She ran away
And I wonder where she will stay
My little runaway
My run, run, run, run, runaway
I'm a walkin' in the rain
Tears are fallin' and I feel a pain
A wishin' you were here by me
To end this misery
And I wonder, I wa-wa-wa-wa-wonder
Why, why-why-why-why-why
She ran away
And I wonder where she will stay
My little runaway
My run, run, run, run, runaway
My run, run, run, run, runaway
My run, run, run, run, runaway
Written by Del Shannon
I hope you enjoy it!!!

SPC Michael Terrell I had a 1970 GTO. 400 CI, 4 speed, and 4 bbl carb. Loved it but I couldn't keep tires on it.

PO2 (Join to see) - I didn't burn the tires off mine, but I had two blowouts a couple miles apart while driving on I-75. One, as I approached an exit. It took me two hours to convince some old dude at a station that I wanted a new tire, not a used one. It was about a three hour delay. As I'm Heading back onto I-75, another tire blew. It was a good thing that I had brought a couple hundred extra dollars with me, for the trip home from Ft. Rucker. Sadly both bad tires were the original red striped Tiger Paw type that came with it, new. You weren't going to find replacements for those as some ripoff station along the Interstate.

Sgt (Join to see) Me too! 1961, I was a Sophomore, and hormones were raging, but what a great time to grow up! Hot rods, rock and roll, and big hair on chicks!

Love that song, but not to be confused with the group The Runnaways with a young Joan Jett! :)
