Thanks for your good works, COL Mikel J. Burroughs!
Here’s a photo of the real What’s My Line? This is not the original cast from 1950, but one of the more well known lineups, and the one I remember best. “The panel in 1952. From left: Dorothy Kilgallen, Bennett Cerf, Arlene Francis and Hal Block with John Daly as the host.”

John Daly was also a news anchor on tv, Dorothy K wrote a column in the Journal American newspaper, B Cerf owned Random House publishers and A Francis was an actress. I don't remember Hal Block at all.

LTC Stephen C. - I also watched Walter Cronkite, John Cameron Swayze and Bonanza. There was very little movement in my neighbor during the hour that Cronkite and the Huntley-Brinkley Report was broadcasted on different channels back-to-back (with rabbit ears).

I did a little research. Hal Block was a successful comedy writer. Was stationed in Europe with the USO shows during WW2, writing for Bob Hope among others. They worked in some forward areas. He was fired from What's My Line for his naughty comedy remarks after about 3 years.

What was almost always considered risqué in that era is now looked at as normal humor. We've evolved and not always for the better. Humor, however, has always been humor and should have always been accepted as such.
