On October 14, 1926, A. A. Milne's book "Winnie the Pooh" was released. From the article:
Winnie-the-Pooh (1926) is the first volume of stories about Winnie-the-Pooh, written by A. A. Milne and illustrated by E. H. Shepard. It is followed by The House at Pooh Corner. The book focuses on the adventures of a teddy bear called Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends Piglet, a small toy pig; Eeyore, a toy donkey; Owl, a live owl; and Rabbit, a live rabbit. The characters of Kanga, a toy kangaroo, and her son Roo are introduced later in the book, in the chapter entitled "In Which Kanga and Baby Roo Come to the Forest and Piglet has a Bath". The bouncy toy-tiger character of Tigger is not introduced until the sequel, The House at Pooh Corner.
The book Winnie-the-Pooh is the first in a series of books published in the 1920s about Winnie the Pooh and friends. In creating these volumes, Milne adapted stories he had originally published in Punch, St. Nicholas Magazine, Vanity Fair and other periodicals.[citation needed] Illustrations for those magazines had been provided by J. H. Dowd, Reginald Birch, E. H. Shepard, A. H. Watson and others.[citation needed]
The first chapter, for instance, was adapted from "The Wrong Sort of Bees", a story published in the London Evening News in its issue for Christmas Eve 1925.[2] The chapters in the book can be read independently of each other, as they are episodic in nature and plots do not carry over from one chapter to the next.
Classics scholar Ross Kilpatrick contended in 1998 that Milne adapted the first chapter from "Teddy Bear's Bee Tree", published in 1912 in Babes in the Woods by Charles G. D. Roberts.[3][4]"

"It's probably been a while since you read a Winnie-the-Pooh story or watched an animated film featuring the humble bear, but here's a series of vintage photos centering on author A. A. Milne's famous character. The images of Milne's son Christopher Robin — the inspiration for Milne's character of the same name who was Pooh's best pal — were taken in 1926 and in 1928 (photos of Christopher Robin and his father.) Mini Milne and his stuffed bear — named Edward, a gift he received on his first birthday — sometimes come across semi-creepy, but in that charming, vintage-photo way."

I can sure remember these Winnie the Pooh books and also later a TV series on cable that was very good also. the Kids sure enjoyed this when the were younger. Of course they also had Winnie the pooh teddy bears and other stuffed pooh animal friends from the 100 acre woods. My kis are all adult now though in their mid 20s to very late 30s.
