I find it interesting that the Secret Service is getting such a black eye in the media over this. They're doing their best within the constraints of their mission, the public nature of the White House, and their present ROE. Why don't we talk about the cranks who have done this to gain attention? Maybe some public education about why it's such a bad idea might help...

320 amp 13200 volts work for you PO2 (Join to see) ??? That way, should someone even touch the fence and grounds out the line...every light in 40 counties in all directions (except for the White House - we'll put them on a solar power only network) will go dark. No need to worry about the sniper having background lighting to work thru.....

Lol, you know. I was kinda joking but now that I've thought about it more, it's not a bad idea... you make it a 12 foot no - climb fence, and electrify the top foot or two. People who walk by and brush up against it accidentally will be fine, but if someone tries to climb..... zap! Then a few watches at the gate and a couple rovers. Good to go.

Again, Put up a sign in big letters "ELECTRIC FENCE, DON't Touch!!" Then in small print, have a disclosure saying that they are not liable for people who get shocked or electrocuted. Also have a universal picture of a man getting shocked.

The border is way too long to do that. It would cost way too much money.

I'm of the opinion we need to stop this farce and move POTUS to a more secure facility OUTSIDE Washington, D.C.. That way we can let the White House be used as a tourist trap.

Move the POTUS to Camp David change the White House to a museum he does not have to reside in DC in this day and age.

Do we need a new fence, better security outside of the fence, or a buffer around the fence?

MSgt Borders responded as a senior NCO should, and that its not working and fix it now or he will that is if he was in charge of some folks in security at the White House.

change the rules of engagement for the security. IF we were to keep the president and his family somewhere more secure, I wouldnt want the public (to include myself) to know about it. make it OPSEC.

But seriously, just add another 4 to 5 ft. to the top of the fence and curve the top outwards. Maybe grease the last 3 ft. It would probably take a lot longer to climb and by the time you finished, the Secret Service and dog teams would be waiting.

Beef up security. Add Marines and Soldiers to the mix. Adding buffer zones or higher fences or concertina wire or anything else that would make the White House look like an armed camp would send the wrong message.

Yes, it can be prevented. I'm not going to get into the politics of it but I truly believe that the security support is not there.

SFC James Sczymanski we need a balanced budget that does not put us in more debt and start paying off our debts. That will help with our dollar being worth more and the dollar will go further, etc.

Simple I think if they are worried about they should just start by adding a nice electric jolt to that bad boy and a 24hr less than lethal sniper would prove a point I think lol

A big voice asking the question: a bullet to the head or releasing of the dogs. Let the person choose and act accordingly.

That's all we need is to do throw money at a problem? No, how about actually addressing these people's complaints. I am sure that they tried other means of contacting their "leaders" before taking the drastic measure of jumping that fence. My guess is that they were ignored. Funny how the president is never in the White House when these things happen too. Oh that's right he's always on vacation.

There are already security measures in place. As long as those security measures are followed, there should be no problems. A jumper over the fence, if stopped outside the building, is appropriate. The failure comes if the jumper gains access to the White House (as it was recently). Travel the world, take a look at other countries... They use similar level (some more, some less) as what we have. In my opinion, the government is of the people, for the people and there should be a degree of access to government by the people. Taking pictures thru the fence, walking close, to the fence, etc need to be allowed. Keep security in place but as low key as required to maintain safety and security.

Seems to be the New "In-Thing" to do. I wouldn't. When I was stationed in DC the guys I knew in the Secret Service were some big bruisers with some bad attitudes.

No, we just need snipers posted on top of the White House that can back up the signs on the fence that say "trespassers will be shot on sight" pun intended,
