How do you refer to your new(ish) Soldiers? I've always said "junior." I asked on another forum, but I thought I would ask here as well. "Lower" seems derogatory and doesn't run parallel with the other titles (junior/senior officer, junior/senior NCO, ?lower?/senior enlisted).

SFC (Join to see) I assumed the question was referring to how to call a group. Like: all my Junior Officers are in supervisory positions. If individual, of course it is by rank

SFC (Join to see) - I'm a Sailor we have some very unique terms and traditions, Recruit, Seaman Apprentice, Seaman then last name or Just Last Name. CWO and Jr Officers are Called Mr then Last Name. You make LCDR I Call You Commander, You Make Admiral, I call You Admiral (I Don't care What Level Admiral) Once you make E-4 it is Petty Officer thru E-6 but we have a thing in the Navy about Your Job Specialty and it is always part of Your Rank. In My case it is very appropriate to Refer to Me as CT1 or CTO1 (Usually what the Guys in Deck Division Called Me).

I don't know if it is a Marine thing, or just a me thing.
Pvt-LCpl, collectively Junior Marines
Cpl-Sgt, collectively NCO's
SSgt-SgtMaj, collectively Staff NCO's

2ndLt-Capt, collectively Company Grade
Maj-Col, Field Grade
BGen-Gen, Flag

Don't like the term lower enlisted.

I always said Junior which is a better descriptor as the dictionary goes. BTW we call them the Senior Enlisted Leader, not the Upper Enlisted Leader.
